In 2000 Findel Projects was awarded a project by the Ministry of Education to provide a complete bespoke solution for 9 newly built Science and Technology Resource centres in Akwa Ebom State. Based on the success of this project, the Nigerian Ministry of Education approached Findel Projects again in 2006 to upgrade the equipment. In addition to this, Findel Projects also provided a training solution in partnership with International Training and Educational Consultancy Ltd.
The complete solution for the 9 Science and Technology Resource Centres provided by Findel Projects encompassed Physics, Chemistry, and Biology equipment, furniture and teacher training for Secondary education. They essentially comprised fully equipped science laboratories in line with the Nigerian curriculum for Secondary science. The Science Technology Resource Centres have improved the effectiveness of science and technology teaching through introducing a more hands on investigative approach.
Through our project partnership with International Training and Educational Consultancy Ltd. (ITEC) we also delivered a full teacher training programme, training 6 teachers and technicians from 6 schools over a period of 2 months. ITEC developed a detailed training programme and provided comprehensive resource material to support the training programme.
Located in the key location of Akwa Ebom State the Centres now have a dual function and, in addition to providing student education, they also facilitate teacher training. Information provided by the Ministry of Education following the project demonstrated that science performance has significantly improved.
